Travelling in Algarve

The capital of the Algarve is Faro, Hostel 33 resides in the heart of the old town, walking distance to the train and bus, only a short bus ride from the Algarve´s only airport, this makes reaching Hostel 33 a breeze! Hostel 33 is an excellent choice for those wishing to travel both to and from the Algarve, for those requiring a short stopover before their next destination but also for those guests who wish to discover the diverse history and culture of the Algarve. Jump on a train travelling east from Hostel 33 and you reach Olhão What better example of real algarvian life, visit the fish market, try some typical seafood dishes by the seafront, walk through the old streets and admire the cubist architecture. Take a boat ride through the Ria Formosa. Leaving Olhão and continuing along the coast you reach Fuseta, take the boat to the island and stroll for miles along white sands, or hire a kayak with a guide and discover what the Ria Formosa looks like from a different perspective. Next up is Tavira, climb the Observatory for a unique view of the town while a local guide recounts the history of some of the buildings. Stroll through the streets alongside the river soaking up the atmosphere, jump on a boat and head for the island, drink a cocktail whilst watching the sunset. Then head back for the evening to Hostel 33 to check out the best of Faros´ nightlife on our pub crawl! Maybe you fancy heading west? Next stop Albufeira! The change is immediate, from the long white beaches of the East Algarve to the hidden coves and high cliffs of the West algarve. Albufeira has something to suit all tastes. Wander round the old town and visit the many shops, bars and restaurants. Take a tour of the caves, or a ride on the jetboat. Play a round of golf on the internationally renowned golf courses or go horseriding through the beautiful surrounding countryside. Then leave behind the coast and head inland to Silves. Steeped in history and with a active cultural agenda Silves is the ideal place to immerse yourself in traditional portuguese culture and history. Spend an afternoon at the Café Ingles drinking coffee in the garden and taking in the panoramic views. From Silves continue along the coast and you reach Lagos, beautiful beaches, a modern marina and a town centre stuffed with shops, cafes and bars. Head out for a surfing lesson with one of the many surfschools, when you come back you´ll be ready to sample some of the delicious fresh seafood dishes typical to the Algarve. Or maybe you feel like reaching landsend, take a trip out to Sagres and the most westerly point of the Algarve. Book in with one of the many diving schools and visit ancient shipwrecks, or maybe book a hiking tour with a local guide and discover the vast national park that stretches along the west coast and up to Lisbon.
