So, while you enjoy your visit to Olhão, you should definitly visit some of the local restaurants to try the seafood and typical portuguese food. You might want to visit:
– “Vai e Volta” serves freshly grilled fish that comes straight from the local market from 12:00-15:00. You get all the fish you can eat, everything from small sardines to chunky tuna steaks, for only 8.50€;
-At “Pizza na Pedra” you can enjoy italian fusion cuisine and a great wine choice for a good price, you can choose to either eat in the dinning room or on their beautiful balcony.

You could also make a stop at the Municipal Markets and buy some fresh seafood, some of the small snack-cafés around the markets will prepare the seafood for you in exchange for a cooking fee (just ask in the cafés near to the markets to check which one’s are available for this service).

A must visit would be the historic heart of Olhão, you can enter the small streets that go through the old part of town by entering the opening just across from the Municipal Markets. You’ll find it to be a great sight-seeing-stroll that displays alot of the traditional portuguese architecture and charm. Going through the city you should also visit Olhão’s museum, the chruch of Nossa Senhora do Rosário or the chapel of Nossa Senhora da Soledade.

Last, but not least, if you want to spend some time on the beach you should head over to the Armona Island. It’s just 20 minutes by ferry (all year around, but decreased number of rides in the off season) or even faster by water taxi, and offers various eating options.
Being part of the Ria Park, it’s the habitat of numerous local fauna like chameleons, the common moorhen, flamingos and many others.
